In Manipur, 573 villages have been pointed out to be “Smokeless Villages” by 5th May of this year. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has given a directive in Sabka Saath Sabka Gaon ka Vikas Sammelan on 13th April. Stephen Chinkhanson Guite who is the Manager – LPG Sales, Imphal, Silchar Area office, IOC has stated that Indian Oil will work on this initiative along with the State Government.
Stephen Guite also announced that all the LPG distributors in their locations will be part of Ujjwala Diwas celebration in Manipur state on April 20. As we know, that this is going to happen as part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan initiative, all these distributors will give Ujjwala LPG connections to BPL families on that day. Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayats will be also held on Ujjwala Diwas. This will be bringing more awareness in Manipuri villages about the benefits of having smokeless kitchen.
The Indian Oil official also added further that Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayats are already being held across the State. Our LPG Distributors are conducting awareness programs on LPG and PMUY Schemes.
From April 14, Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, a Village development mission has begun and concluded on May 5, 2018. Using PMUY and revised PMUY Scheme, 573 villages are going to be completely smokeless.
