One retired DSP has been given 15 days judicial custody for allegedly involving in smuggling WY drugs. Yesterday, Special judge, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, Manipur has ordered this. He was sent in judicial custody along with his wife and one associate.
The investigation officer has submitted a report to the court and it said that Md. Abdul Latif (Retired DSP, Manipur Police) was supported by his brother in law, Hatim Ali who is the financer of the drugs. An individual identified as Md. Wahabs, used to procure the drug consignment from his maternal uncle and aunty staying at Moreh and Tamu.
The retired DSP was arrested on April 14 after one of his associates was arrested at Tousem sub-division and he disclosed that the drug was loaded from Latif’s home. In the police interrogation, Latif has revealed that his wife was also involved in all the drug business transactions. Hence, police also arrested his wife on April 19.
