Today, Karnataka will face voting for the three-cornered fight. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will give a stiff challenge to the Congress. The third corner of this three-cornered fight is reserved for the Janata Dal (Secular).
Congress party has done the whole of its campaign around chief minister Siddaramaiah and the achievements of his government. The BJP has projected former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa as its chief ministerial candidate. HD Kumaraswamy has been projected as CM candidate by JD (Secular) and its alliances with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen.
Everyone has given its best try. Modi himself addressed 26 rallies and Congress president Rahul Gandhi has held more than 40 rallies.
However, it is not just about political season. All these parties are also about the forecast of unseasonal rains accompanied by thunder and lightning, especially in southern and coastal parts of the state. Voting has begun around 7 am and going to end at 6 pm.
In 2013, voter turnout was a high 71.45%. But, the rain can ruin the show. The results will be out on May 15.
