Yesterday, several women folks under the aegis of United Committee Manipur have stormed the residences of deputy chief minister, Y. Joykumar and the quarters of MAHUD minister, Th. Shyamkumar and works minister, Th. Bishwajit. They were demanding a special state Assembly session to discuss the Naga Framework Agreement.
However, police blocked the storming agitators from entering their residences. After discussion, only a few representatives were allowed to submit memorandums regarding their demands.
Ph. Sakhi, President of Aapunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) told the media that earlier, it has been shared that this framework agreement will not hurt the interest of the state. But, we can see now that the official statement of providing a special status for the Naga community in the state is very unfortunate, and it is not acceptable by the people of the state.
The women folks warned that the people are all set to take up intensive forms of agitation if the state government fails to fulfil these demands.
