Customs officials from Customs Preventive Force, Pallel has seized twenty-five gold biscuits worth around Rs 1.20 crore from four alleged smugglers.
On Friday, officers of Customs Preventive Force, Pallel were following a check on a van at Pallel, 50 km from Imphal. During this, they got the gold weighing around 4,150 gram.
Customer officials further added that four persons including a juvenile have been arrested and the customer has also seized that vehicle.
There is a big market rate difference in gold. Hence, we are seeing a new trend of detecting smuggling of gold bars of “foreign origin”. It is going to benefit them at around Rs 3 lakh per kilogram. Hence, more people are nowadays in gold smuggling and more action for our active custom officers.
