On Wednesday, An explosion took place around 1.30pm in front of a grocery shop near the gate of 49 BSF battalion headquarter (Assam, Nagaland, Manipur), Luwangsangbam Awang Leikai along the NH-2. Two BSF personnel were killed and three civilians injured during a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion.
This blast site is just one kilometre away from the Luwangshangbam residence of the chief minister. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has strongly condemned the attack and said that his government will not remain a silent spectator.
The deceased BSF personnel have been identified as N. Ningthouba Meitei, 30, rifle no. 106331291 of 49 BSF Koirengei and Sanjay Tirkey, 28, rifle no. 120905384 of 49 BSF Koirengei. The three injured civilians are also identified. Forensic experts had also arrived and investigated the blast site. No militant group has claimed responsibility regarding this Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion.
