Four Bangladeshi girls were rescued from being trafficked by a team of Kakching Police on Saturday morning. A woman involved in human trafficking was arrested while the main accused person fled from the scene.
A Human Trafficking case has been registered by the Kakching Police and the search for main accused is still going on. A press meet was held at the office of Superintendent of Police, Kakching District, where SP Victoria Yengkhom stated that during the checking held by a police team including women in front Pallel Police Station, a silver coloured passenger van numbered MN-01S-3200, headed towards Moreh, Imphal was stopped and questioned. During the questioning, the man who came along with them managed to flee from the scene.
Later it was revealed that the four girls inside the van were deceived and brought to be sold off. The woman who was arrested in the case was identified as 34-year-old Samina, wife of MD. Zakir from Lilong Mairenkhun, IRI Road. The escaped man was identified as 22-year-old Md. Tomba living under alias Hefajur, son of Md. Noor Rahaman. The investigation is still underway and measures have been taken to make a speedy arrest of the accused.
