Tibetan Spiritual leader Dalai Lama will participate in the inaugural session of the 105th Indian Science Congress. This is scheduled from March 16 to March 20 at Manipur University. Maoist Communist Party of Manipur (MPCM) has raised concern over this participation. The rebel group have released a statement and pointed over the government’s intention. MPCM group said that the Indian authority had ordered restriction over the participation in Dalai Lama’s 60th anniversary celebration, “Thank you India”. This grand celebration was scheduled from March 31 to April 1 in Thyagaraj Sports Complex. Various reputed names like Former Home Minister LK Advani, Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Union Minister of state for Home Kiren Rijiju were going to attend the celebration.
The Maoist group further stated that both states as well as centre governments have ordered to avoid participation in this grand celebration because of its possible results over Indo-china relationship. The matter was noticed by many Indian newspapers too. Now, the Dalai Lama has been invited to the inaugural function of the Indian Science Congress at Manipur. Maoist said this is really unfortunate that the University had forgotten the concerns.
The rebel called this upcoming visit of the Dalai Lama as a conspiracy. Maoist also stated that such recent development showed that Tibetan Spiritual leader Dalai Lama has been utilized by the Indian authority as a mere puppet for political purposes.
Regarding anniversary celebration, Cabinet Secy PK Sinha had released that statement that the propose period will be truly sensitive time in terms of India’s relations with China. Participation by senior leaders of government functionaries, either from the state government or central government is not desirable and should be avoided. On the other hand, Dalai Lama’s spokesperson, Sonam Dagpo had also stated that there have been major changes in the 60th anniversary of Dalai Lama’s stayed in India. The statement from Dalai Lama has also quoted the Indian Foreign Secy.
Maoist Communist Party of Manipur (MPCM) has raised concern over this participation. Maoist further stated that if Dalai Lama’s real struggle is for liberation of Tibet then this outfit is ready to support the leader. However, it does not look like as the spiritual leader is just acting as a mere puppet for Indian authorities.
Maoist group have also said that they will have a keen watch to the Manipur University authority too.
