IMPHAL | Apr 8: There is a stark decrease in a number of bandh, general strike and economic blockade since the advent of the BJP led government, said independent social researcher, Serto Tondana Kom in a press conference held at Manipur Press club today.
Social Researcher, Serto Tondana Kom did a press conference where Serto said there is great reduction in the count of general strike and economic blockade in the state after having this BJP led government in the state.
Serto Tondana Kom further added that this has been confirmed by Inspector General of Police, Manipur. Data shows that our state has faced 23 general strike days and no economic blockade in last year, March 2017 – March 2018. However, there were 127 general strike days and 179 economic blockades in 2016-17. In similar 12 month period 2014-2015, there were 245 days of general strike and 43 days of economic blockade
As a result, we can see a remarkable reduction in economic loss of the state due to these general strikes and economic blockades. In 2017 – 2018, it is 354.2 crores. Last year it was 2616.23 crores.
While appreciating the ability of present government in controlling the issue of bandh, blockade and general strikes, he suggested of promoting more awareness on the impact of bandh, blockade and general strikes so that state could be totally freed from bandh, economic and general strike.
Serto Tondana Kom has appreciated the present government work and suggested that government should act for spreading awareness on the impact of these blockade and general strikes. He said I wish Manipur become totally free from bandh and general strikes.
