As per the reports, Facebook Inc. is set to offer its WhatsApp payment services to the whole of India. It might start from the coming week.  The messaging app will partner HDFC Bank Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd. and Axis Bank Ltd. to process the transfers.
Pretty soon, State Bank of India will also join the four partners club of Facebook. The entry of Whatsapp into India’s payments space has been likened to WeChat, it also expanded beyond messaging.
Vivek Belgavi, leader for financial technology at PwC India said that over 200 million Indians are already using WhatsApp messaging. WhatsApp has a great starting point: a monopoly in chat. High engagement makes it a credible competition.
However, no bank has confirmed about this sort of partnership with Facebook till the time of posting this report.
