Yesterday, Joint secretary HRD, G.C. Hosur has written an email and reportedly asked the vice-chancellor and registrar in-charge, to clarify the matter to the Manipur University community that all the clauses of the MoU including the issue pertaining to the leave of incumbent vice-chancellor during the period of enquiry have been approved by the HRD minister. It means Union minister of HRD, Prakash Javadekar, has approved the MoU signed by the ministry and state government with the agitating bodies of the varsity on August 16.
The registrar in-charge, in a statement said that all the clauses of the MoU have been approved by the HRD minister.
As per the MoU, the agitation was to be suspended after an official order was issued by the authority concerned incorporating all the terms mentioned in the agreement.
The agitating group, however was of the opinion that the HRD ministry had violated the agreement and the ministry has not only dropped the term ‘Independent’ in the reconstituted two-member committee but also turned back over the issue of leave of Pandey.
