One assistant sub-inspector of police has been arrested by a team of anti-vehicles theft, for his involvement in stealing of high-end vehicles. The ASI namely Ravi Ngangom, 27, son of Ng. Bihari of Lamding Ngangom Leikai, Thoubal was picked up from his quarter. The anti-vehicle theft also recovered a Toyota Fortuner SUV and a Harley Davidson (motorcycle) from his possession.
One case was lodged against him at the Imphal police station for further investigation. He was given to police custody for three days by the magistrate.
Speaking to media persons SP Imphal West, Jogeshchandra Haobijam said, “The police department will not spare anyone if he or she committed a crime, even though the individual is a police officer. The crime committed by the arrested police officer is a non-bailable offence as per under section 411 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).”
