On Tuesday, Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) has signed an agreement to start an as a joint venture (JV) between state-run Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) and two foreign partners to set up India’s first bio-refinery – Assam Bio-Refinery Pvt Ltd.
NRL Managing Director S.K. Barua told the media that this is the joint venture between NRL and Chempolis Oy of Finland and Fortum 3 B.V. of Netherlands.
He further added that this bio-refinery will be producing 62 million litres of the eco-friendly bio-ethanol and other chemicals from around 0.5 million tonnes of bamboo per annum. Yes, it will be remarkably boosting revenue generation for bamboo farmers.
