In a recent official memorandum, the Ministry of Electronics and IT has declared that last date of linking biometric identifier Aadhaar with all sorts of the welfare schemes has now been extended from March 31 to June 30.
On Wednesday, The Central government extended the deadline of March 31 by three months. As per recent rule, it was necessary to link 12-digit biometric identifier Aadhaar with the various welfare schemes, where benefits are transferred to Indian residents from the Consolidated Fund of India. According to the latest official memorandum of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the deadline for this task now stands extended to June 30, 2018.
We all know that deadline for linking mobile phone numbers and bank accounts with Aadhaar has already been extended indefinitely. The central government will have to wait for the implementation of that idea, till the five-judge constitution bench delivers its judgment over received petitions challenging the validity of Aadhar.
There is one more clarification from the Ministry. An officer has also explained that this is right that people have got a three month breather for linking of Aadhaar with welfare schemes like, pension schemes, MNREGA, PDS and many other schemes, but one still need to share Aadhaar number, the enrolment slip or request for Aadhaar enrolment after March 31 to avail benefits of these schemes. Yes, this extension in last date has been given as central government wanted to avoid all sorts of inconveniences. The central government wanted to ensure that genuine beneficiaries should not be denied to these benefits due to lack of this biometric identifier.
