After the unrest for two days, the curfew was finally lifted for seven hours in Shillong on Sunday. The curfew was lifted for eight in morning till three in evening, giving people from fourteen localities under curfew a chance to run errands and the tourists who were caught in Meghalaya due to curfew to get back home.

The situation was aggravated when a local tribal was reportedly killed in Punjabi lane on Thursday. To get the condition under control curfew was imposed in the state but since Saturday evening no case of violence has been reported.
