The ministry of civil aviation is all set to give more power to flight passenger. A good news for all the flyers out there as the ministry of civil aviation has proposed a draft defining the rights of air passengers, so the next question arises that how would this help the passenger …all the rules defined in the draft are focused on empowering the passengers whether it is services given or inconveniences caused by the airlines .
Following are the highlights :
1. The draft has a solution to the problems of cancellation charges, as it will never exceed the basic fare plus fuel charge, though most of the airlines now have their own set of rules regarding cancellation policy. Yet it will keep a check on those companies who changes their cancellation charges every now and then.
2. Costumer will be allowed to cancel or amend tickets within 24 hours of booking tickets. Some airlines already offer such features.
3. Full refunds will be offered if there is a delay for more than 4 hours also if the delay exceeds to next day the airline would bear the charge of passenger’s stay.
4. Airlines also have to offer a minimum compensation of 5000/- in case of overbooking the leading problem in air travel.
5. Last but not the least, all the airports must provide the passenger 30 minutes of free wifi services
