On Wednesday, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) said that two minor girls were found pregnant in separate cases in Gurugram. CWC chairperson, Shakuntala Dhull said, “One 15-year-old was found to be six months pregnant and another 17-year-old girl was found to be seven months pregnant. In both cases, the girls said they had a consensual relationship with the accused.”
In the first case of the 15-year-old girl, she was taken to a hospital where doctors confirmed pregnancy and informed the police. This girl is from West Bengal and living in Khandsa near Sector 34. She became pregnant due to a consensual relationship with a 17-year-old boy hailing from the same village in West Bengal. He was here searching for a job in the city and also, living at the next to the girl’s house.
In another case, the 17-year-old girl was also hailing from West Bengal and here living in Palam-Vihar. She became pregnant because of a consensual relationship with a 19-year-old man.
However, FIRs have been filed under the POCSO Act in both cases.
