Former Indian cricketer and Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu became the centre of a controversy during his visit for Imran’s swearing-in ceremoney.
Sidhu was facing lots of criticism regarding this visit. On Saturday, he pulled himself into another controversy by having a seat right next to Masood Khan. Masood is the president of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Not just this, he was also seen hugging Pakistan army chief Gen Qamar Bajwa twice.
Such pictures coming from Pakistan have given chance to BJP for raising finger over congress. BJP is now demanding that Rahul Gandhi should act against Sidhu. Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jhakar said that one should see this visit as a sportsman’s visit responding to another. Now, it was for the new Pakistan PM to prove that he is not a puppet in the hands of the Pakistan army.
Talking to state-run PTV, Sidhu later said, “A new morning is here in Pakistan with a new government which can change the destiny of the country.”
Sidhu also said, “Bajwa came to me and said we were thinking of opening the Kartarpur route on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.”
Sidhu arrived in Lahore on Friday via the Wagah border. He said in his first media interaction in Pakistan, “I have come here not as a politician but as a friend. I have come here to take part in the happiness of my friend.”
However, Imran said in his yesterday’s speech that Kashmir will remain the core issue for Pakistan and mentioned the alleged human rights violations by Indian forces in the Valley.
