On Saturday, Convener of the People’s Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA), Erendro Leichombam was arrested from Thangmeiband residence in Imphal West. Erendro was accused of sharing one hate video which has inflammatory speeches made by some suspected Biharis against Manipuris. Imphal court has ordered for his 15 days judicial custody. As per reports, Erendro Leichombam refused to seek bail and take down a ‘hate video’ from his Facebook profile.
Manipur Police had issued a warning to internet users not to circulate it as such act can raise the chance of racial violence.
In his Facebook post, Erendro had raised the question against the police for their failure in tracking down those who had actually made the video.
While interacting with media, Erendro said, “I want justice and will stay in jail hundred and two hundred times for justice and my motherland. I will not apply for bail. I want to be released unconditionally. Those who made the video are walking free while those who shared the video have been arrested. This is a gross injustice. The BJP government in Manipur is shameful.”
