According to Chief Electoral Officer F R Kharkongor, over 15000 voters have been rewarded for going to polls. In Meghalaya, these voters have received ‘early voter medals’. These medals were given in 59 Assembly constituencies. In these assemblies, five early voters from each of the 3025 polling stations were rewarded with ‘early voter medals’ by the state Election Commission. He said some of these early voters were the enthusiastic first time voters who were spotted in the queues as early as 6 am.
Chief Electoral Officer further shared that over 75 percent votes were polled in Meghalaya. This data is still not completed one. We are still waiting for data from East Jaintia Hills and the Garo Hills districts. Hopefully, the figure might go up as we receive data from these remote places.
