Four organizations, Manipur Proletariat Peoples’ Democratic Union (MPPDU) Socialist Students’ Union of Manipur (SSUM), Proletarian Feminist Movement, Manipur (POFM) and Socialist Women Association (SWA) have formed a committee to organize a month-long observance function of the 122nd birth anniversary of Manipur’s Pioneer leader Hijam Irabot.
Bhusan Longjam, General Secretary SSUM, said that this will be a month-long celebration from 1st of the next month. The main function will be on September 21. On September 20, the day Hijam Irabot died, the committee will observe the 66th Death anniversary as “National Martyrs Day”. September 30 will be celebrated as the 122nd Birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot and one Pioneer march will also be organised.
There will be lots of competitions in various categories during this month-long celebration. Bhusan Longjam appealed that who is interested in taking part; they can collect from either from the office of SSUM located at Keishampat Laishom Leirak Machin, Tiddim Road or from the branch and unit of the student body. These forms will be available from 2nd September.
