Several women folks under the aegis of United Committee Manipur stormed the residences of deputy chief minister, Y. Joykumar and the quarters of two other ministers.
Police blocked the agitators and allow only a few representatives of the protesters to submit memorandums regarding their demands. The memorandum stated that the people of the state have denounced the state government for failing to discuss the Naga Framework Agreement issue in the recently held monsoon session of the Assembly in order to appraise the Centre.
Aapunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) president, Ph. Sakhi told the media personnel that available official statement of providing a special status for the Naga community in the state is certainly not acceptable by the people of the state. If the state government fails to fulfil the people’s demands then people of the state are all set to take up intensive forms of agitation.
