Various student bodies have come together to call an indefinite state-wide bandh from Friday to protest against the state government as the government failed to fulfil its promise for recruitment of tribal language (MIL) lecturers at the higher secondary schools of Manipur.
Yesterday, education secretary of LNKR-AMN, Rofica Newmai addressed a press conference at Manipur Press Club and told that in a recent order for recruitment of 409 teachers, there were no posts announced for tribal MIL subjects. Excluding lecturers of tribal languages is a great injustice to the tribal students and demonstrates the government’s negligence of tribal students.
The student bodies are Thadou Student’s Association General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ), Siamsinpawlpi General Headquarters (SSPP-GHQ), Rongmei Naga Student’s Organisation, North East India (RNSO- NEI) and Liangmei Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR-AMN).
