A big dream of Laishram Imoba Meitei is in doubt because of the poor financial conditions. Laishram Imoba Meitei is the 10th position holder of the recent result of this year for the examination conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) for class XII science stream. He has a big dream of becoming a doctor.
Laishram Imoba lives in Khangabok of Thoubal district. He is the second child of L Budol and L Sangbanabi. Elder sister of Laishram is completing BA from DM College and his younger sister is in class IX at Eastern Star Higher Secondary located at Khangbabok.
His father, L Budol is worried about dreams of his children. L Budol is a daily wage earner. He used to hold a piece of farming land but sold it to suffice the daily needs of his family. L Budol searches labour work on daily basis to have a daily meal for the family. He said, “I met an accident and got an injury in the spine. Now, it is not that easy for me. I try my best to earn by doing whatever work I could find each day. Sometimes, it looks that I can only shed tears as I would not be able to fulfil their dreams.”
Talking about his studies, Laishram Imoba told about his Biology teacher, Ranjita, who gave him much needed financial assistance. Laishram Imoba has done class X examination from Eastern Star Higher Secondary School and secured 88.16 percent. Once, he was in the need of medical treatment to come out of the illness. The family was not having enough money for the treatment. This lady teacher gave money for the treatment and also for his study. Furthermore, his friends have given him books to read.
Laishram Imoba said that he will feel forever indebted to the teacher and his friends for their generosity. He further added that he has doubt about fulfilling the dream of becoming a doctor as the family wouldn’t be able to afford fees for further studies.
Laishram Imoba has given pride to the whole Khangabok by getting the 10th position. His father appealed to Honourable Chief Minister for giving a helping hand so that brilliant kid, Laishram Imoba can continue his studies.
