The Governor of state, Dr.Najma Heptulla flagged off Vigyan Jyoti Rally. It was started from Raj Bhavan and lead to Manipur University. This rally was organized in connection with the 105th Indian Science Congress under the theme ” Reaching the unreached through Science and Technology” to be held at Manipur University from 16th to 17th March 2018 at Manipur University, Imphal.
In her addressing speech to existing crowd, Dr.Najma Heptulla told that she is very happy that 105th Indian Science Congress is happening in Manipur University. Earlier, it was scheduled to be held at Osmania University, Hyderabad. But, Manipur University finally got this opportunity. Since its inception, Prime Ministers have always been inaugurating Science Congresses. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has kept the tradition and has accepted to inaugurate the Science Congress.
Dr.Najma Heptulla said that all students must hold the needed scientific temper. Being a student of science, one should see the connection of science in day to day life. We should have an understanding about science’s involvement in our surroundings, like, the food we eat, the nature around us.
She further shared that event like The Science Congress is especially for the student. Yes, it also has Children and Women’s congress because learning is not bound to age bar. You must try to gain knowledge in all ages.
Talking about various points in her speech, the governor discussed about importance of having that biodiversity and nature of the state as it is. She stressed over utilizing them for improving people’s lives.  She asked people to work for plantation and to take care of nature as well as our surrounding.
While sharing about her involvement with science and science congress, she told that she has been involved in Science Congress since her student’s days and also is a member of Women’s Scientists Association.
