On Friday Morning, 21-year-old MSc student at IIT Delhi has committed suicide in his room of the hostel. Delhi Police has found a suicide note from his room and it clarified the reason behind this suicide. His suicide note revealed that boy was under depression because of being sexually abused from his childhood.
Delhi Police got the information about this suicide around 8 am in the morning. His roommate found him hanging from the fan. The boy used his pyjama for the suicide. This student was from Hooghly district in West Bengal. In his suicide note, he has mentioned few names too. The suicide note was written in Bengali. This note was kept on his table beside his bed.
Delhi Police has sent the dead body for an autopsy to Safdurjung Hospital. The dead body was later handed over to his family.
According to the family members, the boy was good in his academics. He had done his graduation from Kolkata with good marks and came to IIT two months back for having masters. He had never shared about any sort of sexual assault. Not just this, he was never seen depressed over any issue.
Elder brother of this IIT student told investigating police officials that he had also attempted suicide on 10th April by consuming sleeping pills. The boy was then admitted to Safdarjung Hospital. After a certain level treatment, his elder brother took him to his home. His elder brother has also counselled for two days.  On Thursday morning, he came back to the IIT hostel.
Police have sent the suicide note for forensic analysis too as the family members doubted over its validity. However, Delhi Police had registered an FIR under sections of unnatural sexual assault and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and send it the West Bengal police for further investigation.
