L. Upendra Sharma, the Director of JNMDA, Imphal, today quoted “forgetting Manipur’s martial arts is like forgetting its culture. This art form is renowned in the world and needs to be preserved”.  
Thang-Ta’s 12th Festival was celebrated and it involved the honouring of the Cultural Association of Kangleipak Thang-Ta. This was held at Lairenpat Yaripok Road in Imphal East where L. Upendra Sharma was the chief guest.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi and Department of Arts and Culture backed the Kangleipak Thang-Ta Cultural Association to organize this event.
Upendra further said that Manipur is famous around the world for its rich cultural heritage and unique form of martial arts. He also acknowledged the organizers.
The festival was observed to pave a way for the preservation of the cultural heritage of Manipur and to encourage the existence of institutes to do so. This event came with an ending with demonstrations of art forms by various institutes.
