Seven members of Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur were injured in a police action on Monday. The DESAM was demanding a declaration of semester examination of the colleges. It has also demanded an immediate end to the ongoing crisis in Manipur University.
Students were marching towards Raj Bhawan when police tried to stop them by lathi charge. MUTA and MUSU have condemned the brutal act of Police. These associations have also demanded a magisterial enquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday met Union Minister Prakash Javadekar in his official residence and also, submitted a copy of the State Cabinet’s suggestion of setting up an Enquiry Committee to look into the issues raised by Manipur University community.
