On Sunday, BJP national President Amit Shah was addressing the third conclave of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led political platform, North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in Guwahati.
He said, “Northeast will be ‘Congress-mukt’ (Congress free) after the Mizoram election, scheduled for the year-end. After Mizoram, which is going to polls end of this year, all the eight Chief Ministers of the northeast will be sitting here together.”
Slamming the Congress regime in the region, Shah said that they looted money from developmental funds meant for the poor. Now, the centre government has ensured the proper use of every single paisa sanctioned for the development.
Shah’s visit was also protested by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS). This farmers’ body, was opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016. Their activists also protested near the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra where the conclave took place.
