Yesterday, Chief Minister N.Biren Singh greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Khongjom Day. He said that it was the spirit, courage and sacrifices that we need to regard in observing Khongjom Day.
Chief Minister recalled the sacrifices and courage of our forefathers who had given their lives fighting against the mighty British Empire for protection of the freedom of this erstwhile nation. He also added that The Manipuris – Nagas, Meitei, Kuki and Meitei Pangal, fearlessly fought the mighty British Empire.
Honourable Governor, Dr.Najma Heptulla also greeted people and said that Manipuri war heroes fought the British forces with swords and little shields.
Speaking at the occasion, she also urged the people to build memorials for the martyrs in their hearts. People of the current generation should collectively take a pledge to fight against poverty, illiteracy, discrimination and other social evils.
