On Monday, Manipur Secretariat employees have started an indefinite cease-work strike. S. Shashikanta, vice president of the Manipur Secretariat Services Association shared with the media that all of us want to be on work. But, we should also get the enhanced pay as recommended by the 7th Pay Commission. There’s no reason why the Manipur government cannot implement it while other state’s government can implement it.
Answering a question in this regard, Deputy Chief Minister Y. Joykumar told that this will give extra burden of Rs 1,600 crores more every year. As of now, we don’t have such whooping amount.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has also supported the demand but asked to give some more time to the state government to resolve the issue.
