Manipur government is ready to accept the proposal of The British Council regarding skill-training of the state’s youths. On Wednesday, Alan Gemmell, Country director, British Council India, met Manipur education minister L. Jayantakumar in Imphal with this proposal. The British Council wants to support the Manipur government’s initiative of teachers’ training and skill training of youths especially in English learning and focus on art and culture besides sport.
Gemmell said, “The minister gave a green signal when I suggested initiating the teachers’ skill-training programme. I will be meeting chief minister N. Biren Singh tomorrow before I leave Manipur.”
Gemmell had also met Tripura deputy chief minister Jishnu Devvarma on Tuesday on the same issues.
