An unidentified gunman has reportedly opened fire at Thongkhosei Haokip, situated at Gamnom Veng, Ward no. 2 Moreh. The incident took place at 2 a.m. on the morning of July 13. Though the major reasons for the incident are yet to be analyzed, the people residing near to the accident spot heard the firing sound for more than 40-45 minutes. This terrific firing resulted in ruining several accommodations and other essential belonging of Thongkhosei Hoakip. Apart from the bullet mark that can be easily spotted all over the residential, a Royal Enfield Bike along with a Creta car and an Activa Scooter were reportedly destroyed during the incident. As per the recent sources, around 4-5 houses of the neighbours got badly ruined in the firing.
When the news reached the SDPO of Moreh Police station, DSP Thomas Thokchom, Sandip Gopaldas, OC, L Vaiphei, OC-CDO Saktisen, and Dr. S Ibomcha, the sub-inspector of the district along with a group of 11 AR and security personnel instantly arrived at the spot and initiated the search operation. A discharged Lathode gun alongside various empty briefcase comprising bullets with unexploded explosives was discovered from the incident spot.
