Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Thursday said his ministry is actively considering setting up a world class football academy in Manipur in collaboration with the state government.
Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has met with students who are on a National Integration Tour organised by Assam Rifles. While addressing them, he said that his ministry is looking for setting up an academy for football coaching in Manipur. They are considering with the state government for collaboration to set up a world class football academy in Manipur. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore met this group which was of young student (11 to 16) along with their teachers from Chandel district of Manipur.
A few years back, there were several football players in the senior team. It is quite notable that Manipur has been the football factory by giving remarkable players from the state. All notable clubs in ISL has selected many players from Manipur. The minister has also noted the remarkable presence of Manipur players in the Indian squad for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
As per the release from the ministry, Rathore has asked these students to prepare hard in the sports and be ready for active participation in future editions of Khelo India School Games. Minister of State (I/C) of Youth Affairs & sports Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore. Col. Rathore asked the students about their hobbies and studies too. The release also added that Mr. Rathore said his ministry is actively considering for setting up a world class football academy in collaboration with the state government in Manipur.
