Yesterday, several students surged towards the chief minister’s bungalow demanding the declaration of college semester exam results within three days. They are angry at the idleness of the state government over the issue of Manipur University. This protest was organized by Joint College Students’ Forum over the ongoing strike for the demand of replacement of vice-chancellor Adya Prasad Pandey.
Arambam Vikash, convener of the joint students’ forum said, “Due to the incompetency of the vice-chancellor, results of the third semester, fourth semester and the sixth semester (graduate) exams’ are yet to be declared.
This protest was obstructed by the police in front of Nupi Lal memorial complex. However, storming students pushed further towards the chief minister’s bungalow, whereupon police stopped them in front of the bungalow gate.
Four students were injured in the scuffle between the police and the students. The students came to submit a memorandum to the CM. Even after a long wait, he was not there to meet these students.
The impasse of the university has started affecting the career of students.
