The fugitive economic offender Vijay Mallya is now in big trouble as UK
High Court has given order in favor of a consortium of 13 Indian banks
and permission given to enforcement officers for entering into his
estate near London to seize his possessions.
On 24 November, 2017, the UK High Court had registered in English
courts the Bengaluru DRT judgment regarding a worldwide freezing of
assets order against Vijay Mallya. After a series of hearings in English
court, this June 26 order finally went against Mallya.
After fleeing from India, he was living in quintessentially English upper-
class village of Tewin, along with his friend Pinky Lalwani. The order,
passed by Justice Byran even allows concerned authorities to use force
to enter the property.
However, no order has been given about Mallya’s another property in
Cornwall Terrace property in Regent’s Park, London. He holds over 746
cr worth assets outside the India.
