Haji Basleuddin, alias Md. Masle alias Masleuddin, a 63 years old criminal of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, was arrested from his residence on May 30. Narcotic Affairs and Borders (NAB) Police Manipur and Thoubal district police have arrested drug lord of Manipur, Haji Basleuddin, who has been evading arrest for over two decades. The combined team also recovered cash from the drug lord.
In the month of April, retired DSP of Manipur police was arrested with one lakhs WY Tablets. The arrest of Haji Basleuddin is the outcome of that case’s investigation.
According to the SP NAB, W. Basu, several attempts to arrest Haji in the past turned futile as the security forces are often met with stiff resistance from his gang. Even in this operation, his loyalists attack the security forces including the lady officer leading this operation. However, we arrested him this time. But, his son Md. Syed Ahmed alias Syrin was able to escape. He is also involved in several crimes.
Basu further said that still, it is a big win. If he is behind the bars, 50 percent of drug menace in Manipur will be reduced.
