After a cardiac arrest, famous bollywood heroine Sridevi passed away on last Saturday night. The 54 year old, beautiful actress was in Dubai to attend a relative’s marriage. She was with her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi at her time of death.
Sunday morning, Her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor told press in Mumbai, “This is sad but true that she passed away. I have just reached Mumbai and flying back to Dubai. Roughly, it happened around 11:30 last night. I don’t have further more details.”
She was reportedly in Dubai to attend Mohit Marwah marriage. Her mortal remains are expected to bring back to Mumbai on Sunday evening. Sridevi’s last rites to take place at Pawan Hans crematorium at Juhu, Mumbai tomorrow at 11 am. Several bollywood celebrities have been pouring in their condolences. The whole country has shared the grief over social media. She is survived by Boney Kapoor and two daughters – Jhanvi and Khushi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to share his condolences. He tweeted, “Saddened by the untimely demise of noted actor Sridevi. She was a veteran of the film industry, whose long career included diverse roles and memorable performances. My thoughts are with her family and admirers in this hour of grief. May her soul rest in peace.”
Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, this bollywood actress have also worked in various Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada films before entering in the glamorous world of bollywood.
Sridevi started her acting career in the late 1960s as a child artist. And, she got the state award for best child artist for her performance in the Malayalam film Poombata (1971).  Her Bollywood debut was as a child artist in Julie (1975).  Sridevi’s first movie as an adult performer was in Tamil and the film Moondru Mudichu (1976) was hugely appreciated by critics.
Her first bollywood movie was Solva Sawan released in 1979. Sridevi went on to become one of the biggest female stars India ever had. Her most remarkable films include Nagina, Mr India, Tohfa, Sadma, Himmatwala, Chandni, ChaalBaaz, Mawali, Gumrah, Lamhe and Judaai among others. After the movie Judaai (1997), Sridevi took a 15-year break from movies. She got married to famous bollywood producer, Boney Kapoor. Sridevi was Boney’s second wife. Her daughter Jhanvi is set to make her Bollywood debut this year with Karan Johar’s directorial Dhadak.
After a long break, she came back another heart winning performance in bollywood movie English Vinglish in 2012. In 2015, Sridevi had a starring role in the Tamil movie, Pulli. She was last seen in 2017 as a leading lady in the home production titled MOM.
The government of India awarded her Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour, in 2013. Today, people took twitter to mourn the death of this legendary diva. This was really a shocking news for her fans as she had no history of a heart illness. According to available reports, Sridevi’s last rites will take place at Pawan Hans crematorium at Juhu, Mumbai on Monday around 11 am.
