Last month, National Investigation Agency began a probe regarding conspiracy of sending youth from Kashmir to PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) for militant training.
During this investigation, NIA team was in Srinagar central jail. Team was probing about one prisoner regarding his role in this conspiracy of sending Kashmiri youth to PoK for arms training. On Monday, NIA seized more than two dozen mobile phones and a Pakistani flag from this central jail in Srinagar.
In its statement for the Press, the NIA said, “During our searches in central jail, our team has seized five pen drives, five memory cards, twenty five mobile phone, some SIM cards and various incriminating documents, articles along with a poster of Hizbul Mujahideen. One Pakistani flag and few Jihadi literatures were also seized.”
There were 20 teams in this NIA operation. Other security forces personnel from Central Reserve Police Force, Jammu and Kashmir police and National Security Guard also assisted NIA in this operation. These search operations were began in the morning and continued till late afternoon. Teams have searched all the barracks and open ground of jail. This thorough search was conducted by well trained teams along with metal detectors and other gadgets. This entire operation was monitored using drones too. Search parties were also having magistrates, witnesses and doctors.
The alleged conspiracy of sending youth from Kashmir to PoK came to light after the arrest of two boys from Pulwama district – Sohail Ahmad Bhat and Danish Ghulam Lone. These boys were trying to cross LoC to enter Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) for arms training. While the Jammu and Kashmir police registered a case on October 30, 2017, the NIA took over the investigation on February 19 this year. Proscribed terrorist outfit Al-Badr is allegedly behind the conspiracy to send Kashmiri youth to PoK for arms training.
