On Monday, 100-crore cash and about 90-kg bullion have been recovered by the Income Tax Department in Tamil Nadu. The I.T. team raided several premises of a road construction firm, Ms SPK and Company to recover all this.
One senior official from this team said, “About Rs 100 crore cash, which is suspected to be unaccounted, and bullion and gold jewellery weighing about 90 kg have been recovered so far.”
He further added that Chennai Investigation Wing found some evidence of suspected tax evasion by the firm and its associates. Total 22 premises; 17 in Chennai, four in Aruppukottai and one in Katpadi (Vellore) have been raided by the team.
