In Agartala, Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain told that Indian Railways is working on 43 projects at a cost of Rs 9000 crore for better rail connectivity in the border areas of the northeast with other parts of India.
On Tuesday, Rajen Gohain was addressing the gathering as he was in Agartala for flagging off a bi-weekly Humsafar Express train between Agartala and Bengaluru.
He also shared that Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been extending 112 km rail line up to southern Tripura’s bordering city Sanbrrom to get access to the Chittagong port in Bangladesh.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also attended this program and he urged Minister Gohain to make all Express trains from Tripura at least bi-weekly if not daily.
