As we had earlier shared, Prime Minister is now on the visit of Manipur. His visit to the state is happening just after the completion of one year of the BJP-led government. PM Narendra Modi will visit several places in Manipur state and he will also lay foundation stones for many projects in the state. High security has been beefed up in these places.
PM Modi was in Imphal for the inauguration of the 105th session of Indian Science Congress in Manipur University. While addressing the gathering, PM shared his views on various areas i.e. science and technology, need of research work and women empowerment in north eastern areas, etc.
PM Modi said that he is really happy to see that Science Congress is being held in Manipur. He shared that he got information regarding the past of this Science Congress initiative. And, PM Modi told that he was shocked to hear that this is just the second time, this Science Congress is happening in the north-eastern region.
He urged all the attendees of this congress meet to showcase their best. PM Modi said that we all understand that science had been synonymous with prosperity and progress. This is the chance for all of you to highlight the resurgent spirit of the North East.
PM Narendra Modi also talked about Stephen Hawking and paid tribute to the renowned researcher who passed away on March 14. PM Modi said that Stephen will be remembered as the greatest motivators in this world. Stephen Hawking had visited India twice and he was a friend of this country.

Job for Manipuri Youth – PM shared that North Eastern states have got ten India Reserve Battalions because of the recent decision of the Central Government. Out of these ten battalions, two will be for Manipur and this means 2000 jobs for Manipur Youth.
Railway expansion in north-east – PM Modi said that seven out of eight north eastern states are connected by the rail network. There are lots many projects coming in near future to connect the remaining state capitals, including Imphal to broad gauge network.
Emphasize on Research – PM Modi said, we should Research for the Development of this nation. Indian needs potential of science for the ease of living. This can only be done by emphasizing moreover research and development.
Socio-economic challenges – Prime Minister raised the concern of socio-economic challenges and also suggested that we should look toward science for the solution. Science can give us clean, green and prosperous India.
Move from Lab to Land – PM has also given a slogan, Labs to Land. He suggested researchers that they should extend their research for the greater benefit of Indians.
Fellowship scheme – PM also shared about PM research fellows’ scheme. Now, bright minds from the best Institutions in the country, like IIT, IISc, NIT, IISER & IIIT can get direct admission in PhD in IIT & IISc.
Need for efficient solar module – We have recently shared about installation of solar power plants. PM Modi said that Central government has set a target of 100 GW of installed solar power by 2022.
Woman power in Manipur – PM Modi had also discussed about women empowerment in Manipur state. He shared about Rani Gaidinliu as a great source of inspiration for the whole country.
