The current Chief Minister of Sikkim, Pawan Chamling created one of its kind records on 28th April by becoming the longest serving CM of any state in the history of India. Another record is due on its way as he would also become the first CM to complete a fifth consecutive term in CM office in another year’s time.
Chamling assumed office on December 12, 1994, and since then has been leading the Sikkim Democratic Front’s Government in the state. The party has been winning consecutively for five terms running under Chamling, a feat in itself.
Pawan Chamling on Saturday extended his gratitude to the people of Sikkim expressing his happiness on the record. He accredited the people’s faith and belief in him and his party to be responsible for the achievement of his record in office.
