On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet has approved an ordinance for setting up India’s first National Sports University in Manipur. In Imphal West district, this proposed university will be developed. It will be in 325 acres and project’s proposed cost is around 524 crore.
Yesterday, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told the media that the decision regarding the Sports University has been taken and it will be presented in the Parliament soon. Indian Government understands that Manipur’s youngsters had given so much in Indian sports. Prime Minister Modi is truly keen to further promote sports in the state.
Minister further added that Mary Kom becoming the biggest symbol of sporting talent in the state. PM has promised for this sort of Initiative to the players and chief minister. We are doing our best for having a sports university in the state as soon as possible.
