On Tuesday, External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj launched a mPassport Seva app. Using this app, people can apply for the vital travel document using their cell phones. This app is available for both Android and iOS platforms.
This app was released on the occasion of the Sixth Passport Seva Divas. While addressing the gathering, minister Sushma Swaraj also announced that the government would set up a PSK in every Lok Sabha constituency to simplify the process for issuing passports. As of now, there are 307 PSKs and our government had set up 231 PSKs out of 307 PSKs during its four-year rule.
Swaraj also recounted the measures taken by the government to simplify the process of issuing passports such as doing away with the mandatory requirement of submitting the birth certificate and implementing self-attestation instead of attestation by magistrates or notaries.
