Nirav Modi can’t use Indian Passport to be Global-Trotter anymore. Nirav and Uncle Mehul Choksi are accused of defrauding state-run Punjab National Bank of at least 13000 crore rupees. They fled the country January this year. The government revoked their passports earlier. But, in the absence of red corner notice, they could still travel freely.
However, Interpol has finally issued a Red Corner Notice against him for money laundering. It has been urged by Interpol to all of its member countries to detain or arrest him if he is in the country.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had approached Interpol last month for this Red Corner Notice. This notice empowers 192 member countries security agencies to locate and arrest Nirav Modi.
