On Tuesday February 6th, two powerful bombs plotted by unidentified persons exploded inside the transit camp of Assam Rifles. Police said, at least nine troopers were injured and two of them are in critical condition. Injured troopers were sent to the hospital.
This camp was near the Police Commando Complex in Imphal. Officials have not allowed entry of any media person to the camp. After receiving this news, top notch police officers and other security officials rushed to the camp. However, there were no arrests till filing of this report.
In the past, there have been various attacks on this transit camp. Though there has been no casualty in those bomb attacks. Such transit camps are arranged to facilitate Assam Rifles troopers who are moving in their duty line as per given orders.
It was not the first bomb attack. There have been a series of bomb blasts in Imphal city in recent days. Last Monday night, two hand grenades were exploded at the Polo Ground. Prior to this, two hand grenades were exploded near the Raj Bhavan. These were blasted just before the celebrations of Republic Day.
Condemning these blasts, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said steps have been taken by security officials to stop all such bomb attacks in Imphal.
