Manipur State governor, Najma Heptulla shared about her recent visit to Shillong to attend the NEC meeting last Monday. This meeting was chaired by the home minister, Rajnath Singh.
Manipur State governor told that this meeting was for crafting of an action-taken plan report on the 64th plenary and approval of the draft annual plan of NEC for 2018-19 by the council at Shillong.
She further mentioned that it is decided that NEC will focus on developing Manipur. In this meeting, various issues were discussed like, the transformation of several districts in the region, strengthening livelihood programmes, water resources management, catchment area treatment through afforestation, doubling farmers’ income by 2022 and road connectivity among others. All the governors and chief ministers of the northeast states were present in this meeting.
Najma also mentions that she had raised strong voice on border and security issues of the state. She had urged that development should not be based on the size of the state but be based on the developmental index. She had also shared that 29 projects are approved for Manipur and will be taken up seriously by the NEC. Most of them will be focused on raising tourism in Manipur. And, all these national projects will be now funded 100 percent by the centre.
