Brother of Forest and Environment Minister Th.Shyamkumar has allegedly threatened to shoot two drivers. Yesterday, Betel leaves transporters and suppliers staged a protest demonstration at Thangal Keithel regarding this case. These two drivers are working under R.S.Transport Agency.
A few weeks ago, Forest Minister Th.Shyamkumar announced a ban on betel leaves in the state. However, this ban was suspended following a Manipur High Court order of April 19.
Speaking to media persons, both drivers shared the whole incident. We got the transit pass for our vehicles from Sekmai Forest beat office and proceeded towards Imphal. We also submitted Xerox copies of the transit pass at this Forest Beat too. When we reached the Godown located at Thangal Keithel MG Avenue, Ravi, brother of Forest Minister Th. Shyamkumar and Ranjit, PRO of the same Minister came there. They questioned us about the betel leaves and ordered us not to load down the betel leaves at the godown.
Both drivers further added that we told them about having the transit Pass from the forest department. Still then, the brother of the Minister argued and took out a gun from the front of his car. He even threatened to shoot us.
