Across the hills and the valley districts of Manipur, Student organizations are going to start intense agitation from May 2 as their demand was not even heard by the state government.  Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur (ATSUM), and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) had asked the Manipur Government “to revoke its decision of appointing a non-local as the Chief Secretary” of Manipur by April 30.
A student leader said, “So far, State Government has done nothing in this regard. Being the May Day (Tuesday) we have decided to start from May 2 and we will now start stern forms of agitation that may to an indefinite economic blockade.”
The student leaders have cautioned that this BJP led Government is resorting to neo-colonialism by ignoring the native people.
